Westcave Preserve

I had seen pictures of Westcave Preserve online and immediately placed it on my list of places to visit. It just looked too good to pass up. With my mom and sister coming to town, I figured I would take that opportunity to share and explore a new place with them and I'm so glad I did!

With this past weekends weather being so up in the air, I was pleasantly surprised on Saturday when it was stable and warm enough (my sister hates the cold!) to venture out there. Westcave has tours on the weekends only and they are scheduled at 10 AM, 12 PM, 2 PM and 4 PM. The price of admission is highly affordable at $10/adults and $5/children and well worth it! We arrived about an hour ahead of our tour which gave us plenty of time to relax and wander around the grounds. Their Environmental Learning Center is absolutely beautiful and definitely worth checking out before or after your tour.

Our tour guide Erich was extremely knowledgably about Westcave and the terrain surrounding it and we all loved hearing his stories and wisdom about the place. The tour itself takes about an 1 and 30 minutes and during that time you are taken all the way down into the land and through the cave that gives the place its namesake. Westcave is absolutely beautiful and it feels like you are in a whole other world. I cannot wait to go back during the early summer and see it in a whole other light!

If you ever find yourself in the Austin area, I highly suggest making the journey out to Westcave Preserve for an afternoon of nature and fun! You can learn more about Westcave Preserve HERE.
