Corpus Christi, TX City Guide

Corpus Christi is a city I feel gets introduced as a one trick pony. "Oh, you want to go to the beach? Try Corpus." And that's all you really hear about that. Maybe it's because I grew up in the area and Corpus Christi was the closest city to us, but I love the ever changing and different aspects of the sparkling city by the sea so I've compiled my list of go-to things to stay, eat and play down on the Corpus Christi Bay!

Corpus lacks in the trendy "boutique" hotel area, but they do have some great standards located super close to the bayfront. I recommend staying somewhere on ocean drive as you can walk to tons of bars and food within that area. A few options include: Omni Corpus Christi Hotel or Best Western Marina Grand.

If you're feeling adventurous, you could try and book a condo or room on Airbnb. I've seen some great options located out on North Padre Island!

Hester's Café: a must visit in my opinion! This charming little café/bakery has 3 locations in town and each offer up a little something different. Just make sure you go before 3PM though as that's their daily closing time! (see my post on Hester's HERE)

Bleu Bistro: such a great atmosphere and delicious French faire! There really is no other place in town quite like it. They have delicious French 75s and daily specials, plus a huge selection of wines!

Water Street Oyster Bar: of course some seafood had to be on here somewhere, this is Corpus after all! Being so close to the Gulf, Water Street offers up some great seafood and even amazing non-seafood options.

Executive Surf Club: One of my favorite places in all of Corpus. They actually have awesome burgers, nachos or whatever you feel like eating here, but what I really love is their huge draft beer selection. Plus, they have surf boards as table tops and tons of Gulf Coast memorabilia.

Brewster St. Icehouse: if live music is your thing, then you'll definitely want to head out to Brewster St. to catch a show or two! They are THE place to see well known and up and coming Texas artists perform.

House of Rock: I love live music, can you tell? House of Rock is a great little bar/pizza place/music venue downtown that always has something up its sleeve. Their calendar is so diverse and constantly changing,

Texas State Aquarium: frankly TSA is fun no matter what age you are.

South Texas Art Museum: They constantly rotate exhibits out and do all kinds of activities for the kiddos (and even adults). Plus, they have a Hester's inside with an amazing patio to sit out on!

Harbor Playhouse: If you can catch a show at the Playhouse, I highly suggest it! They do such great productions and I've never walked away feeling disappointed. I can't wait for them to do Mary Poppins later in the year.

Benjamin's: Benjamin's is a local surf shop that also has an enormous selection of clothes, shoes and whatever else you feel like buying!

Bleu Frog Mercantile: Bleu Frog is located next door to Hester's (notice a trend?) on Alameda and they offer up tons of great home décor, kitchenware, clothes and so much more. There's something for everyone in this place.
