Fredericksburg, Texas City Guide
My mother, grandmother, little sister and I packed our bags and headed out into the hill country to enjoy some time in Fredericksburg for Mother's Day weekend. Located about 1 1/2 hours outside of Austin, this little German gem is a top destination for sure!
Gastehaus Schmidt - Fredericksburg boasts an insane amount of house rentals throughout the town and a lot of them are within walking distance to the Main St. shopping. We rented ours through Gastehaus and has a fabulous time. They offer tons of properties at affordable rates.
All Seasons - This is another round of properties I looked at before deciding on a place to book. They offer some insanely beautiful places and truly have anything you could possible desire for a hill country getaway.
For ever more options (seriously there's a million!) try HERE.
Hondo's on Main - This was our first stop when we got into town. Hondo's is such a great place as they have live music, tons of food and great drinks. While it was pretty rainy when we were there, they had a fanstactic outdoor seating that I'd love to go back and utilize.
Farm Haus Bistro - Perfect place for brunching and wandering around their beautiful herb gardens.
Vaudeville - Delicious menu, conveniently located and beautiful ambiance.
People really come to Fredericksburg for two things and that's:
Wine - Fredericksburg is surrounded by amazing wineries. And if you're over 21, winery tours is an absolute must do! We always love visiting our favorite, Fiesta Winery and Becker Vineyards is also a terrific option.
Shopping - The shopping on Main St. is truly spectacular. There's really something for everyone. For a list of all the shops try HERE.
Scenic Drives - Truly one of the best things about the hill country is its insane beauty. The landscape is something to do in itself. I'd recommend doing the Willow City Loop or heading out to Luckenbach for another scene entirely.
