Texas State Aquarium + Tips for Visiting
I love the Texas State Aquarium. It is as simple as that. With my hometown around 30 miles north of Corpus Christi, my family and I have always been fortunate enough to have a membership and we tend to go quite frequently. It's such a great way to spend an afternoon, especially if we're already in Corpus doing other things and just want to pop in for a few.
One of my favorite aspects of the Texas State Aquarium is that a majority of their animals, if not all, are rescued. Whenever I was in elementary school, we took a trip over to their Sea Lab where they nurse all of the wounded sea creatures back to health and it is a trip that has stuck with me ever since. Pretty sure marine biologist was the top of my "What I Want to Be" list primarily from that trip.
Below are some tips and tricks I've learned through the years should you ever decide to go visit the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus!
Don't Go On Holidays - I know this is tempting, especially if you're working around children's schedules but seriously you'll thank me later you visit on an off weekend instead! Typically on holidays or events like spring break, the line to just get inside and grab tickets is down the street, meaning the lines inside to comfortably view the sea creatures is the same.
Be Courteous - I know most people are kind and courteous to those around them, but I have witnessed with my own eyes grown adults push children out of the way to see exhibits without a second thought. It can get cramped when everyone's trying to look at the same thing, so just be nice and thoughtful ya'll!
Get the Membership - If you're like us and live fairly close to Corpus Christi or even if you plan on making a few trips to CC during the year I highly suggest opting for the membership! Even if you only go twice, you'll already have made your money back plus you get all kinds of benefits and perks. Learn more HERE.
Go to the Dolphin Room - I'm not sure if a lot of people know about this room or not? It's kind of hidden if you're not familiar with the aquarium or don't grab a map when you come in, so I'm here to tell you the dolphin room is a must do! Located right under the dolphin show pool, it is THE most calming room in all of Texas.
HAVE FUN! - Seriously there's so much to see and do at the Texas State Aquarium, but the most important part is to have fun! From the otters to the dolphins to the sting rays, plan an afternoon and take it slow.
