For my last post on Marfa, I wanted to share a few pictures and words about the hotel we stayed in. Hotel Paisano is a beautiful hotel in the heart of town that was built in the 1930s. Paisano is most known for the cast of Giant (Elizabeth Taylor, James Dean, Rock Hudson, etc.) staying there while filming. To this day, you can stay in the "Elizabeth Taylor Suite" and so on, which you better believe if they were ever open I'd jump on!
I had never visited Hotel Paisano, so I was excited at the opportunity to experience what the hotel had to offer. It's an absolutely beautiful hotel, inside and out, and we loved our time there. I will say to be prepared when staying at an older hotel like Paisano as the bathrooms were European style (pretty small) and you could hear almost everything happening in the hallway. However, don't let those things deter you from staying at this beautiful hotel with so much history.
Jett's Grill is a part of the hotel and was the only restaurant open in town during our stay, so we were well acquainted with them by the end. Jett's food was delicious (split a chicken fried steak with someone, it's huge!) and the margaritas were a must as well. Right next to the restaurant is a waiting room complete with lush leather couches and a warm fire that was perfect on those chilly West Texas nights.
Overall Hotel Paisano is a wonderful alternative to the glamping at El Cosmico or minimalistic nature of Thunderbird. Even if you're not staying at the hotel a walk around the property or dinner is sure to not leave you disappointed!
